Mansfield and Ashfield Chronicle: 23/12/1915: Died of heart failure. 6 months previously had suffered a violent injury to chest by recoil of heavy gun. He was still being treated for these injuries when he died. 6ft tall , 14 stones and a fine fit man before injury. Freshwater (All Saints) Churchyard: " In the midst of life, we are in death" This man is commemorated in a book of remembrance held by Mansfield District Council.
