Thomas Smith (junior) was born in 1900 he was the son of Thomas (senior) a lace machinist dropper hand and Annie Smith née Wight and the brother of Florrie, Nellie and Herbert Smith. Thomas (senior) was born in 1868 and Annie Wight was born in 1869 both were born in Nottingham, they were married in 1886 at Nottingham, they had 7 children, sadly one died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 they lived at 26 Seldon Place Lower Eldon Street Sneinton Nottingham Thomas is 43 yrs and a lace machine dropper hand, he is living with his wife Annie 42 yrs and their 4 children. His family later lived at 1 Woodland Street, Beaumont Street, Sneinton, Nottingham.

Military History

Private Thomas Smith enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 15/17th battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 12th April 1918 and is buried at Le Grand Beaumart British Cemetery Steenwerck
