Edward Stephen Smith

Edward was born in 1897 in Nottingham and was the son of Joseph a fruit salesman and Florence Smith née Patmore of 2 Blake Street, Gordon Rd Nottingham. His father Joseph was born in 1866 in Nottingham and his mother Florence Patmore was born in 1877 also in Nottingham. Their marriage is recorded in the Nottingham Registration district in 1895, they had a total of 10 children , however sadly 3 died in infancy or childhood prior to 1911 their surviving children were: - Edward Stephen b1897, Harry b1901, Alice b1903, Emma b1904, Rose Emily b1908 and Miriam b1910, all the children were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 43 Beauchamp Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham and are shown as Joseph 45 yrs head of the family a fruit salesman , he is living with his wife Florence 34 yrs a housewife and their children Edward Stephen 14 yrs an apprentice ironmonger, Joseph 12 yrs a scholar, Harry 10 yrs a scholar, Alice 8 yrs, Emma 7 yrs Rose Emily 3 yrs and Miriam 8 moths.
