Son of Charles and Mary Sketchley of 11 East Ville Street, Nottingham (CWGC). Charles was their eldest son. Charles senior, formerly of the Union Inn, Union Road, pre-deceased his son.
Private Charles Sketchley, 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, was killed in action 9th April 1917. He is buried in Tilloy British Cemetery, Tilloy-Les-Mofflaines (grave ref II.E.4)
Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged) 28 April 1917: 'Sketchley. Killed in action April 9th Sergeant Charles Sketchley age 24 eldest son of the late Charles Sketchley late Union Inn, Union Road. Mother, brother.'
