Charles Mann was born in 1890 at Grantham, he was the son of William a bricklayers labourer, and Mary Ann Mann and the brother of Ada, Mary, Charles and Herbert Mann of 8 Rushton Terrace, Twills Street, Nottingham, his father William was born in 1862 at Newark Upon Trent, his mother Mary Ann was born in 1868 at Grantham they were married prior to 1889 they had 3 further children, Charles b1890, Ada b1894 and May b1900, In the 1901 census the family are residing at 10 Islington Place, Nottingham, the family have not been found on the 1911 census. In the 1911 census Charles Mann 22 yrs is servving with the 2nd battalion The King’s (Liverpool Regimentin India. He was the son of Mary Ann Mann of 8 Rushton's Terrace St An's Well Road Nottingham.

Military History

Private Charles Mann enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 2nd battalion The Kings Regiment, he died on 1st April 1919 and is buried at St Maire Cemetery, France

His brother Private Alfred Mann enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st battalion The Kings (Liverpool Regiment, he was killed in action on 15th September 1914 and is buried in Vendresse Military Cemetery, France.
