Robert Hendren

Robert was born in Birkenhead about 1874, the son of Mary Ann Hendron. His mother was married first to William Dyer to whom she was married by 1871 as at the time of the census they were living in Handsworth, Staffordshire, with his parents. They had at least five children; Henry, Alfred, Isiah, Florence and William. By 1881 their mother had remarried (Hendron) and was living at 40 Meadow Street, Birkenhead, with the five children of her first marriage and the two sons of her second, Robert (7) and Richard (5). Her husband was not in the house on the night of the 1881 census. In 1904 Robert married Elizabeth Ann (Lizzie) Brown, nee Love, in Nottingham; Elizabeth Ann was a widow with three children. In 1891 when Elizabeth Ann was 15 she was living in Nottingham with a cousin, James Graham, his wife Hannah and son George. She married Harry Brown in 1895 but was widowed by 1901; at the time of the census she was living on William Terrace, St Ann's, with her young children, Annie (5), Mabel (4) and Harry (1), and working as a charwoman. In 1911 she and her second husband, Robert, were living at 11 Rippons Place, Nottingham, with the three children of her first marriage and their own sons, Robert (6) and William (4). A third son, John T., was born in 1914. Elizabeth Ann died in 1930 age 62.
