Family History

Frederick Dodson was born in 1890 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Arthur a lace maker and Sarah Ann Dodson née Riley of 15 Turner Street, Aflred Street, Nottingham. His father Arthur was born in 1853 at Nottingham, he died in 1915 aged 62 yrs, his mother Sarah Ann Riley was born in 1855 also at Nottingham, they were married on 23rd May 1874, they had 18 children, sadly 11 died in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family are living at 15 Turner Street, Alfred Street, Nottingham, Arthur 58 yrs is a lace maker, he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 56 yrs and their children, Herbert 22 yrs a clerk, Frederick 21 yrs a fish monger, Ada 15 yrs and Albert Ernest 12 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Frederick Dodson served with the 2nd battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers, he was killed in action on 21st June 1916 and is buried at Faubourg D’Amiens Cemetery, Arras, France.
