Family History

Albert Henry Brown was born in 1897 at Lenton, he was the son of Henry Albert (Harry) a stone hand in a timber yard and Emma Alice Brown née Johns and the brother of Clarence, Archie Raymond, Ada Lilian, Alfred Ernest and Harry James Brown of 110 Pym Street, Nottingham. His father Henry Albert was born in 1875 at Radford, his mother Emma Alice Johns was born in 1874 at Lenton, they were married on 26th October 1895 at Nottingham, they had 7 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at 77 Pym Street Nottingham, Henry Albert 36 yrs is a stone hand in a timber yard, he is living with his wife Emma Alice 36 yrs and their children, Albert Henry 14 yrs working in the printing trade, Clarence 12 yrs a scholar, Archie Raymond 11 yrs, Ida Lillian 8 yrs, Alfred Ernest 4 yrs and Harry James 2 yrs of age. Albert Henry married Catherine Elizabeth Fairbrother (born 29th October 1890 at Long Eaton,) they had a child Isaiah Brown born 1913. His widow later remarried to become Catherine Boline.

Military History

Private Albert Henry Brown enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Beeston, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, He was killed in action, 1st November 1917, aged 20, whilst serving in the line near Souchez, France. Buried: Sucrerie Cemetery, Ablain-St. Nazaire, France. Plot 2. Row A. Grave 4.
