Family History

He was the son of George Beardall and the brother of Samuel Edward, Hannah Lizzie, Maud, Maggie and Walter Beardall. In 1911 they lived at 127 Blue Bell Hill Road Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Beardall joined the 1/1st Bn Sussex Yeomanry and after training at Canterbury, Kent the yeomanry moved to Liverpool and embarked on the 'Olympic' on 25/09/1915. They arrived at Lemnos on 01/10/1915 and on board S.S. 'Santa' sailed to Cape Helles, arriving on 07/10/1915. They spent the whole of November in the line. On 09/12/1915 the yeomanry moved forward to the Zig Zag where there was heavy shelling. Pte, Beardall was hit by shrapnel and died of his wounds. He was buried at Lancashire Landing Cemetery.
