Harry Barrowcliff was born in 1881 the son of George a sinker maker and Ann Barrowcliff née Cartledge . His parents lived at 43 Corporation Road, Nottingham. His father was born in 1852 at Normanton on Soar and his mother in 1854 at Woodborough. They were married in 1872 in the Basford Registration district. Harry had four siblings – Herbert b.1872 Nottingham, James Cartledge b.1879, Kate b.1883 Nottingham and Frederick b.1888 Woodborough. Harry was the husband of Susan (née Frith) Barrowcliff and the father of Harry and Arthur Barrowcliff. In 1911 they lived at 1 Ludlow Terrace Dame Agnes Street Nottingham.
