He was the son of Samuel and Hannah Britton and the brother of Gertrude Annie, Sarah Hannah, Mary Jane, Alice May and Leonard Britton. In 1911 they lived at 51 Hankin Street Hucknall Torkard Nottinghamshire. Samuel and Hannah later moved to 77 Hankin Street.

Military History

Private Robert Britton, enlisted in Hucknall he served with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France on 29th July 1915 . He was killed in the sinking of H.M.T. Cestrian when it was torpedoed 150 miles east of Malta on 15th April 1917. His name is commemorated on the Chatby Memorial
