Thomas George Bird was the husband of Hetty ( Ethel) née Chapman whom he had married in 1904 at Nottingham. He was the father of Francis W, Ethel and Harold W, George, Hannah, Charles and Laura (twins), Ada and Phoebe Bird. In 1911 they lived at 6 Hazel Grove Hucknall Torkard Nottinghamshire.
Private Thomas George Bird enlisted at Nottingham and initially served with the service number 105552 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was serving with the 7th battalion The Queen's ( Royal West Surrey Regiment ) when he was killed in action and is buried at Becourt Military Cemetery Becordel-Becourt, Somme, France.
