Arthur Carter Price was born in 1877 at Ruddington he was the son of Thomas a frame work knitter and Mary Price née Carter and the brother of Matilda, Emma, Edith, Sarah Ann and Martha Price. In 1891, the family lived on Shaw Street, Ruddington Thomas was born in 1859 and Mary Ann Carter was born in 1858 both were born in Ruddington, they were married on 25th December 1877 at Ruddington, they had 7 children. Arthur Carter Price married Gertrude Willis (born 11th January 1879) on 20th February 1897 at St Saviours Church, Nottingham, they lived at 1 Wilsons Row, Ruddington, In the 1911 census Arthur and his family were living at 15 Rutland Street, Loughborough, Arthur 34 yrs is a hosiery hand, he is living with his wife Gertrude 32 yrs a lace starcher and their children, Willis 13 yrs, Lille 10 yrs and Ivy 8 years of age. Commencing 18th November 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.
Private Arthur Price enlisted on 9th December 1916 at Loughborough giving his age as 39 yrs and 5 days he was posted to the reserves and mobilised for war on 12th July 1917. He embarked for France on 11th December 1917 and was posted to the North Staffordshire Regiment on 12th December 1917, he was reported missing in action on 21st March 1918 and later confirmed killed in action on that date. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
