Henry Flint Hardy

Henry known as Harry was born in 1894 in Nottingham his mother was Betsy Hardy,(née Dring) who had married Thomas Hardy prior to Harry's birth. Betsy had other children , Sarah Ann Dring and William Dring born before her marriage to Thomas. by the 1901 census Harry is now 6 years of age his father, Thomas has died leaving his mother a widow aged 49 years and they are living at 23 lea Street, Radford with Harrys step brother and Betsy eldest son Wiliam aged 18 years , also present at the address is William Flint 45 years a boarder. By the 1911 census ,Harry is living at 51 Lea Street ,Radford with his mother Betsy Dring, 59, widow born Boston; Henry Dring, son, 16, miner, born Nottingham. ( Betsy seems to have reverted to her maiden name) His sister meanwhile has now married and is Mrs Sarah Taylor of 5 Windmill Street Radford, Nottingham.In the army register of effects ,it shows his will was made in favour of his mother Betsy and including :- 9/9/15 - £3-5s-8d 15/8/1919 - £3 war gratuity.Army form AFW 5070 which was completed by the deceased next of kin following his death was sent filled out by sister Mrs Taylor she that both harry parents were deceased as was his brother and his only surviving relatives were herself his sister Sister - Mrs Taylor, 5 Windmill Street, Nottingham, 46 years also 3 or 4 nephew/nieces.In 1921 following Harry's death and that of his mother Betsy, his medals were sent to his sister Sarah Taylor.
