Family History

Stewart John Aldous was born on 6th May 1877 at Dartmouth, Devon, he was the son of the Revernd John Clements Primrose Aldous and Alicia Mary Aldous née Pears of St Anns Vicarge, Nottingham. His father John was born in 1849 at Coventry, his mother Alicia Mary Pears was born in 1853 at Harrow, Middlesex, they were married on 8th August 1876 at ST Mary’s Church, Wimbeldon, they went on to have 8 children. In the 1911 census he is living at The Manor House, Old Chester, Derby he is shown as being 33 yrs and a clerk, he is living with Leonard Ewart Littlewood 25 yrs of age a school master.

Military History

Captain Stewart John Aldous went to France 25th February 1915 and was killed in action, 25th March 1916, when the Germans exploded a mine, then attacked the front line at Berlincourt, France. Buried Ecoivres Military Cemetery, Mont-St. Eloi, France. Plot 1, Row C. Grave 1.
