George Henry Wallace was born on 21st December 1891 in Old Radford, Nottingham and was the son of James and Annie Wallace of 5 Pleasant Place Old Radford. He married Ada Eliza Jones (born 13th April 1894) in 1915 at Nottingham, At the time of his death his widow Ada Eliza Wallace was living at 54 Constance Street, New Basford, Nottingham Commencing 14th April 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week. She was to later remarry and became Ada Eliza Mcloughlin (Formerly Wallace), of 1, Monsall St., New Basford, Nottingham.
Private George Henry Wallace, enlisted on 4th November 1914 at Stamford, he gave his age as 22 yrs and 330 days and his occupation as an engine driver. He stated he had served with the 4th battalion Notts & Derbys Regiment Special Reserve, serving for 4 yrs and left them in 1912 time served. He initially served with the service number 13413 in the Lincolnshire Regiment he transferred to the 1st Battalion Machine Gun Corps on 25th August 1916. He was wounded, a gunshot wound to the head on 16th June 1915 and admitted to 14th General Hospital at Rouen. Following recovery he returned to his unit in the field on 2nd July 1915. He was once again wounded in action on 2nd September 1915 , a gun shot wound to his right knee, he was returned to England on 24th September 1915 for treatment. On 14th June 1917 he was subject of a field court martial in France for stealing gun thigh boots and giving a false name for which he was sentenced to 6 months in prison with hard labour. He went to No 5 Prison at Les Attaques on 27th June 1917 and was released on 15th December 1917 and returned to his unit. He he was killed in action on 28th September 1918 and is buried in Bellicourt British Cemetery
