Albert Henry Watts was born in 1898 at Wymswold, and was the son of Walter Thomas Joseph a bricklayer and Mary Jane Watts née Tuckwood of 19 Balfour Road Lenton Sands Nottingham. His father Walter Thomas Joseph was born in 1863 at Cold Ashby, Northamptonshire, his mother was born in 1872 at Burton, Loughborough, they married in 1895 their marriage was recorded in the Loughborough registration district, they went on to have the following children, Dorothy b1895 Burton, Loughborough, Archibald b1896 Wymswold, Albert b 1898 Wymswold, Phyllis b1905 Melton Mowbray, Eric b1909 Melton Mowbray and Marjorie b1911 Melton Mowbray. In the 1911 census the family were living at 7 Victoria Street, Melton Mowbray and were shown as Walter 48 yrs a bricklayer, he is living with his wife Mary Jane 39 yrs and their children, Dorothy 16 yrs a day girl, Archibald 15 yrs an errand boy, Albert 13 yrs a scholar, Phyllis 6 yrs a scholar, Eric 2 yrs and Marjorie 4 months old.

Military History

Private Albert Harry Watts, enlisted at Nottingham whilst resident at Lenton Sands, Nottingham, and served with “C” Company, 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he died on 18th July 1916 and is buried in Amara War Cemetery.
