Herbert Turton

Herbert Turton was born in 1896 at Nottingham and was the son of Samuel Joseph a coal carter and Jane Elizabeth Turton née Beardsley of 83 Bloomsgrove Street, Radford. His father Samuel Joseph was born in 1871 at Nottingham and his mother Jane Elizabeth Beardsley was born in 1876 also in Nottingham, they were married in 1894 at Nottingham and went on to have 12 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Herbert b1896, Gertie b1898 , Clara b1900, Thomas b1900, Lizzie B1905, Florence B1907, Christopher B1908, Lily b1911, Albert b1915 and Ida Turton b1917 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family lived at 11 Lea Street Alfreton Road Radford Nottingham and were shown as Samuel Joseph 40 yrs a coal carter, he is living with his wife Jane Elizabeth 35 yrs and their children, Herbert 15 yrs a threader lace machinist, Gertie 13 yrs a lace net drawer, Clara 11 yrs a scholar, Thomas 11 yrs a scholar, Lizzie 6 yrs a scholar, Florence 4 yrs, Christopher 3 yrs and Lilly 2 months old.
