Family History

Thomas King (junior) was born in 1893 at Nottingham and was the only surviving son of Thomas King (senior) a warper in the lace trade and Elizabeth Ann King née Bailey of 17 Sullivan Street Radford Nottingham. His father Thomas (senior) was born in 1861 at Lenton and his mother Elizabeth Ann Bailey was born in 1866 at Nottingham, they were married in 1885 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 2 Alexandra Road, New Sawley, Derbyshire and are shown as Thomas 50 yrs a warper in the lace trade, he is living with his wife Elizabeth Ann 45 yrs and their son Thomas 18 yrs a threader in the lace trade.

Military History

Private Thomas King enlisted at Long Eaton, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 14th October 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
