Family History

Norman Frank Hardy was born in 1897 at Nottingham and was the son of Harry William a house painter and Agnes Hardy née Allen of 1 Conway Avenue, Conway Street, Nottingham. His father Harry William was born in 1873 at Nottingham, his mother Agnes Allen was born in 1866 at Barton, Staffordshire, they were married on 24th June 1893 at Nottingham and went on to hav7 children sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were , Ivy Agnes b1894, Norman Frank b1897 , Dorothy Pearl b1900 and Norah Hardy b1903 all were born in Nottingham In the 1911 census the family lived at 15 Arthur Terrace Radford Nottingham and were shown as Agnes Hardy 45 yrs married a lace forewoman, she is living with her children, Ivy Agnes 17 yrs a pattern girl. Norman Frank 14 yrs an ofice boy, Dorothy Pearl 11 yrs scholar and Norah 8 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Norman Frank Hardy enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 27th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment and was killed in action on 21st March 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
