Family History

William Henry Harvey was born in 1899 at Radford, Nottingham and was the son of Thomas Henry a pawnbrokers assistant and Amelia Alice Harvey née Key of 111 Cinderhill Road, Bulwell, Nottingham. His father Thomas Henry was born in 1876 at Nottingham and his mother Amelia Alice Key was born in 1874 also at Nottingham. They were married in 1897 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, William Henry b1899, Edna May b1902, Eric b1905 and Leslie b1908 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family lived at 6 Wordsworth Road Radford Nottingham and were shown as Thomas Henry 34 yrs a pawnbrokers assistant, he is living with his wife Amelia Alice 36 yrs and their children William Henry 12 yrs a scholar, Edna May 9 yrs a scholar, Eric 6 yrs and Leslie 3 yrs.

Military History

Private William Henry Harvey enlisted at Derby, he initially served with the service number 58429 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He later served with the Bedfordshire Regiment and attached to the Hertfordshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 23rd August 1918 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial
