Family History

Stanley Percy Winfield was born in Nottingham in 1898 the son of Percy Thomas a plumber at the city asylum and his first wife Kate Taylor Winfield nee Kimley . Percy Thomas was born in 1869 at Nottingham, Kate Taylor Kimley was born in 1870 at Nottingham, she died in 1904 at Nottingham aged 34 yrs they were married in 1896 at Nottingham , they had children, Arthur Gordon, Marjorie Kate, Dorothy Agnes, Edith Eleanor His father re married in 1905 to Ann Maria Bostock in 1905 at Nottingham, they went on to have a daughter Annie Maria b1906 at Nottingham in 1911 the family are living at 16 Porchester Road, Nottingham, Stanley is 11 years of age an evening student and a telegraph messenger for the post office.

Military History

Stanley enlisted in London into the 8th battalion City of London Post Office Rifles. He was killed in action on 15th September 1916 .He is buried in London Cemetery and Extension, Longueval, Somme, France, grave reference IA B 32.
