Frederick George Stovin was born in 1876 at Gainsborough and was the son of William and Marian Stovin née Boughtflower of 4 Mount Pleasant, Mount Street Nottingham. His father William was born in 1843 at Wheatley, Nottinghamshire, he died in 1909 aged 66 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Boughtflower was born in 1854 at Boston they were married in 1875 their marriage was recorded in the Gainsborough registration district, they went on to have the following children, Ada b1875 Boston, Fred George b1877 Gainsborough, Charles Ernest b1879 Gainsborough,

Military History

Private Frederick George Stovin enlisted at Finsbury barracks whilst residing at Nottingham. He served with the 2nd battalion Royal Fusiliers, He was killed in action on 5th November 1915 at Gallipoli. He is buried at Azmak Cemetery, Suvla
