John Roland Seymour

John Roland Seymour was born in 1889 in Hucknall and was the son of John a coal miner and Mary Seymour née Warsop of 11 Back Cottage, Bulwell, Nottingham. His father John was born in 1854 in Epperstone and his mother Mary Warsop was born in 1859 in Basford, they were married in 1877 in Nottingham and went on to have 9 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhhood. Their surviving children were all born in Hucknall and were, Charlotte b1881, Thomas b1883, David b1886, Nellie b1888, John Roland b1889, Harry b1895 , George b1903. In the 1911 census the family are living at 311 Quarry Road, Bulwell, Nottingham they are shown as John 57 yrs a coal miner he is living with his wife Mary 52 yrs and their children, David 25 yrs a coal miner, John Roland 22 yrs a coal miner, Harry 16 yrs a coal miner and George 8 yrs , also living with them is their married daughter Nellie Knibbs 23 yrs and her children Thomas Knibbs 4 yrs and Lilley Knibbs 1 year of age. John Roland married his wife Beatrice Kirk on 18th April 1912 at Basford Parish Church, they lived at 24 Fairfax Street, Basford, Nottingham and had the following children, Arthur born 20th July 1912 at Bulwell, Granville born 24th May 1913 at Basford and John Roland born 17th October 1916 in Nottingham. Following his death his widow Beatrice was informed by the Ministry of Pensions that should would receive a pension of 30 shilling and 10 pence a week for her and her three children to take effect from 17th February 1919. In 1919 his widow Beatrice re married in Nottingham to Henry Burton and they went on to live at 40 Musters Street, Quarry Road, Bulwell
