Frederick Rowley

Frederick Rowley was born in 1894 at Greasley and was the youngest son of the late George a coal miner hewer and Martha Ann Rowley née Woolder of 72 Harcourt Street, East Kirkby. His father George was born in 1852 at Greasley, he died in 1919 aged 67 yrs, his mother Martha Ann Woolder was born in 1854 at Greasley they were married on 27th May 1871 at St Leodegarius Church, Basford, they went on to have 15 children sadly 4 of whom died in infancy or early childhood, their children were, Phoebe b1871, Joseph b1874, Florence b1876, Lucy b1878, Albert b1880, George b1882, Ernest b1884, Fanny b1886, John William b1889, Mary Elizabeth b1892 and Frederick b1894 all were born in Greasley. In the 1911 census the family are living at 72 Harcourt Street, East Kirkby and are shown as George 58 yrs a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Martha Ann 56 yrs and their children, John William 22 yrs a coal miner hewer, Mary Lizzie 19 yrs no occupation and Fred 17 yrs a colliery pit bank worker.
