John Charles Perry was born in 1887 at Nottingham, he was the son of Charles a jeweller and Hannah Perry née Edwards of 140 Portland Road, Nottingham. Charles was born in 1863 at Nottingham he died in 1909 aged 56 yrs, Hannah Edwards was born in 1864 they were married in 1886 at Nottingham and had 4 children, He married Mary Elizabeth Dalton (born 22nd June 1886) in 1909 at Nottingham. In 1911 they lived at 21 Durnford Street Basford Nottingham John Charles 24 yrs is a postman, he is living with his wife Mary Elizabeth 25 yrs. Commencing 31st December 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week

Military History

Private John Charles Perry enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 15th battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 3r May 1917 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.is
