Charles Edward Peplow was born in 1900 the son of William a gas works labourer and Mary Ann Peplow née Owen and the brother of Sarah Ann, William, Frederick and Ethel Peplow of 16 Walston lace, Sutton in Ashfield William Peplow was born in 1864 in Shropshire, Mary Ann Owen ne was born in 1866 at Sutton in Ashfield, they were married in 1886 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield Registration district, they went on to have 8 children, sadly 4 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at lived in Quarry Yard Sutton in Ashfield.

Military History

Private Charles Edward Peplow initially enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the service number 100966 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was serving with the Machine gun corps when he died of the effects of gas poisoning on 10th October 1918 at 11th stationary hospital at Rouen. He is buried at St Sever Cemetery communal extion.
