Albert Henry James was born in 1888 at Litchfield, he was the son of the late Albert Webb a farmer and the late Catherine Eyre James née Rollinson of the Fields, Ruddington. Albert Webb James was born in 1858 at Ruddington, he died in 1916 aged 58 yrs, Catherine Eyre Rollinson was born in 1860 at Chesterfield, she died in 1911 aged 51 yrs they were married on 14th January 1878 at St Mary’s Church, Chesterfield, they had 9 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. Albert Henry married Jane Elizabeth Gunn (born 2nd July 1885) in 1909 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at Distillery Gardens, Ruddington In the 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at The Fields, Ruddington, Albert Webb 53 yrs is a farmer, he is living with his wife Catherine Eyre 51 yrs and five of their children, Thomas Arther 28 yrs working on his fathers farm, Percy Oliver 23 years working on his fathers farm, Florence Ann 21 yrs working on home duties, Fred Leonard 19 yrs working on his fathers farm and Elsie May 18 yrs working at home. In the same 1911 census Albert Henry has left the family home, he is living at Bridge Farm , Kegworth with his wife, Albert Henry 31 yrs is a farmer, his wife Jane Elizabeth 25 yrs.

Military History

Shoeing Smith Albert Henry James enlisted on 29th January 1901 at Nottingham, he gave his age as 22 yrs, he served during the Boer War and was discharged from the Army on 30th August 1902, he served with the 20th Hussars and was embodied on 5th August 1914. He died on 31st January 1919 of a stomach carcinoma and is buried at Ruddington Churchyard, Nottingham.
