Daid Jarvis was born in 1897 at Warsop and was the son of Samuel a colliery labourer and Mary Ann Jarvis née Duckmanton of 61 Alexandra Street, Warsop. His father Samuel was born in 1863 at Bedford, his mother Mary Ann Duckmanton was born in 1867 at Warsop, they were married in 1886 at Mansfield, they went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Warsop, Lucy b1886, William b1888, Emily b1890, Ethel b1890, Wilfred b1895, David b1897, Alfred b1901, Edith b1905, Ernest b1907 and Dorothy b1909. In the 1911 census the family are living at 54 Sherwood Street, Warsop and are shown as Samuel Jarvis 48 yrs a colliery labourer, he is living with this wife Mary Ann 44 yrs and their children, William 23 yrs a colliery labourer, Wilfred 16 yrs a coliery labourer, David 14 yrs a colliery labourer, Albert 10 yrs a scholar, Edith 6yrs, Ernest 4 yrs and Dorothy 2 yrs of age.
Private David Jarvis enlisted on 21st May 1915 at Mansfield, he served with the 8th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 8th March 1916 and is buried at Cite Bon Jean Military Cemetery, Armentieres.
