Father: William James, born in 1864 in Nottingham, working as an insurance agent. Annie Gertrude James,born in 1870 at Nottingham. Brothers:Archibald Henry, born in 1899 at Nottingham. Sister: Annie, born in November 1901 at Alford, Lincolnshire. The family lived at 27 Ryeland Crescent, Nottingham before moving to 52 Bruce Grove, Meadows, Nottingham.

Military History

Gnr. James was a professional soldier and arrived in France 16/08/1914. His initial roll was that of a driver, though he later became a gunner. At the end of the war he was with the Royal Field Artillery's base depot. Unfortunately, he was killed accidentally on 26/12/1918 and was buried at St. Marie Cemetery at Le Havre.
