Brothers: Samuel, born in 1900 in Nottingham and John, born in 1904 in Nottingham. Sisters: Amy, born in 1893 in Nottingham and working as a cardboard box maker and Clara, born in 1899 in Nottingham. The family lived at 10 Rutland Place, Granby Street before moving to 24 Mount Court, Mount Street, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Tollington enlisted in the Territorial Army on 30/05/1913 in Nottingham. Following training after the outbreak of war, he embarked for France from Southampton on 23/05/1915 and disembarked at Rouen on 29/05/1915 He was transferred to 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters on 23/10/1914 but was further transferred to 1/7th Battalion on 28/06/1915. The battalion was involved in fighting in the Zillebeke area near Ypres and Pte. Tolling ton was killed in action. He was buried at Hedge Row Trench Cemetery.
