He was the son of Charles and Susan Burton 28 Park Street, Lenton, Nottingham and the brother of Eliza (later Lightfoot) and Albert Burton.
Military History
Private John Henry Burton enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He went to France on 25th May 1915 and was killed in action, 13th October 1915, age 18, in the attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt, France. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
