Military History

Private Arthur Percy Beevor enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Ruddington, he was killed in action with 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters on 1st July 1917 when they were in Ypres. The battalion had arrived on the Salient on 14 June and were based at the Cavalry Barracks in the town of Ypres itself. The area was constantly shelled and it is likely that Arthur was killed during one of these artillery attacks.
