Joseph Edward Allcock

Joseph Edward Allcock known as Ted was born in 1881 at Hucknall and was the son of the late John a grocer and Jane Allcock née Riley of 48 High Street, Hucknall. His father John was born in 1844 at Hucknall he died in 1910, his mother Jane Riley was born in 1845 also in Hucknall she died in 1918, they were married on 27th July 1870 at Hucknall and went on to have the following children, Millicent b1870, Sarah b1878, Harry b1879, Joseph Edward b1881, Charles b1883, Walter b1886, Joseph married Phoebe Askew (born 6th January 1883) in 1903 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have the following children, Gladys born 22nd November 1904, Doris Ivy born 16th December 1909, Dora born 6th July 1915 and Edward born 20th March 1917 they lived at 18 Wollaton Street Hucknall Torkard and later 23 The Connery , Hucknall Nottinghamshire. In the 1911 census the family are living at 18 Wollaton Street, Hucknall and are shown as Joseph Edward Allcock 29 yrs a carter, he is living with his wife Phoebe 29 yrs and their children Gladys 6 yrs and Doris Ivy 1 year of age. In the same 1911 census his mother and siblings are living at 48 High Street, Hucknall and is shown as Jane 66yrs a widow and shop keeper (beer off) she is livng with her children, Millicent 42 yrs assisting in mothers business, Sarah 31 yrs assisting mother in business and Charley 27 yrs a builder. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 33 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 31st March 1919.
