Family History

Arthur Edward was born in 1898 the son of Arthur a stone miner and Clara Mills née Gregory and the brother of Winifred Sybil and William Arthur Mills, Bleakhall Farm, East Kirkby. Arthur was born in 1873 at Selston, Clara Gregory was born in 1871 in London, they were married in 1896 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district. In 1911 the family lived at 'Rosedale House' near Kirkby in Ashfield.

Military History

Private Arthur Edward Mills enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at East Kirkby, he was killed in action on 23rd October 1917 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
