Family History

He was the son of John and Hannah Armstrong and the brother of Thomas, William, John, Katherine, Ada, Elizabeth, Phoebe, Mary, Hettie and Edith Armstrong. In 1911 they lived at Old Lane Keyworth Nottinghamshire. He was the husband of Annie Elizabeth (née Hodgett) Armstrong who he married on 27th November 1913, at Bingham, and the father of Dorothy born 30th March 1914 and Thomas Armstrong born 7th April 1916. They were living at Bailey Lane, Radcliffe on Trent, Nottingham. Following his death Albert's widow received a letter from the ministry of pensions dated 1st February 1918 informing her she would receive a pension of 24 shillings and 2 pence per week for herself and her two children with effect form 11th February 1918.

Military History

Albert Armstrong enlisted at West Bridgford. He originally served (49725) with the Royal Fusiliers and later transferring to the The Queens Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment. He embarked for France on 6th October 1916 and joined his battalion in the field on 18th October 1916. He is buried at Monchy British Cemetery, Monchy-Le-Preux, France, grave reference I.J.5
