William Rowlett (junior) was born in 1887 the eldest son of William (senior) a coal miner hewer and Annie Rowlett née Waplington of 141 New Annesley, Nottinghamshire William was born in 1856 at Alton, Derbyshire, Annie Waplington was born in 1863 at Thringston, Leicestershire, married in 1883 in Nottinghamshire they went on to have 9 children. William married Florence Peet (born 27th May 1892) in 1914 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had a son William Henry born 5th March 1916 they lived at 3 Nottingham Road, Mutton Hill, East Kirkby Commencing 26th February 1917 his widow Florence was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week. His widow re married on 8th September 1917 William Thomas Watt a coal miner they lived at 100 Annesley Rows Annesley Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Private William Rowlett enlisted at Mansfield, he was serving in India in the 1911 census. He was killed in action on 7th July 1916 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial, Somme, France
