Family History

Luther Cordin was born in 1893 the son of John a coal miner and Fanny Cordin née Oscroft of 15 Wesley Street, Kirkby in Ashfield and the brother of Elsie, John, Winifred, Albert and Christopher Cordin. In 1911 they lived at 15 Wesley Street Kirkby in Ashfield. John Cordin was born in 1860 at Pyebridge and Fanny Oscorft was born in 1866 at Sutton in Ashfield, married in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfiled Registration district.

Military History

Private Luther Cordin, enlisted at Hucknall and served with the 7th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France on 29th July 1915 and was killed in action on 14th July 1916. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
