Family History

Peter Harold Nightingale was the son of George Nightingale and Eliza Toplis who married in the Bakewell registration district, Derbyshire in 1885. Their children included: George Rowland (b.1884), Peter Harold (b.1886), Ernest William (b.1888), Florence Elizabeth (b.1891), John Stanley (b.1893) and Hilda (b.1897). The Nightingale family lived at: Upper Hackney, Darley, Derbyshire [C.1891]; Ashover, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire [C.1901]; Lime Avenue, Hucknall under Huthwater, Nottinghamshire [C.1911]. George Nightingale, who worked as a house painter, died in the Mansfield registration district, aged 55, in 1918. His widow, Eliza, was living in the Chesterfield registration district when she died, aged 82, in 1943. In 1907 Peter Harold Nightingale married Mary Frances Banner in the Chesterfield registration district. Their children included: Florence Ida (b.1907), Frances Enid (b.1908), Harold Ernest (b.1910), Eva Constance (b.1912), George Stanley (b.1913), James L. (b.1915). In 1911 the family was living at Ashover, Derbyshire. All their children were born in Derbyshire but the post-war address for Mary Frances Nightingale supplied to CWGC was 26 Clapham Street, Old Radford. His widow died at Nottingham, aged 47, in 1929.
