Albert Edward Chappell was born in 1894 and was baptised on 26th August 1894 at the Saint Simon Zelotes Church, Chelsea, Kensington and Chelsea, and was the son of Alfred a stableman and Alice Chappell of 65b Guinness Buildings, Draycott Ave, Chelsea. His father Alfred was born in 1866 at Thundridge, Hertfordshire and his mother Alice was born in 1867 at West Farlight, Kent, they went on to have the following children, Ernest b1895, Gladys b1903 and Herbert born 1907, all were born in Chelsea.

Military History

Lance Corporal Albert Ernest Chappell enlisted at London whilst residing at Chelsea, he served with the 2/9th Bn (Queen Victoria's Rifles) London Regiment, he was killed in action on 26th September 1917 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial.
