Family History

David Frow was born in 1882 at Fullerby, Lincolnshire, and was the son of John, a farmer, and Mary Ann Frow née Thompson, of Westhorpe, Southwell. His father John was born in 1844 at Panton, Lincolnshire, and his mother Mary Ann Thompson was born in 1845 at Hull. They were married in 1868 at Silsby, Lincolnshire, and had the following children; Henry b1870 Sutton Lincolnshire, Alice b1871 Sutton, Herbert b1873 Sutton, Henson b1875 Sutton, Fanny b1878 Old Leake, Lincolnshire, William b1880 Old Leake and David b1882 Fullerby. In the 1911 census the family is living at Westhorpe, Southwell, and are shown as John Frow 67 yrs, a farmer, his wife Mary Ann 66 yrs and their son David 29 yrs who is working on the farm. David married his wife Emma Jane Smith (born 19th January 1864 ) in 1914 at Lincoln. They lived on Landseer Road, Southwell (CWGC). Following his death his widow Emma was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week to commence on 5th November 1917.

Military History

David Frow attested on 10th December 1915 at Grantham. He gave his age as 33 yrs and 9 months, address 108 Edward Street, Grantham, occupation insurance agent. His next of kin was his wife Emma Jane of the same address. He was posted to the reserves the following day and mobilised on 28th March 1917 when he was posted to Army Service Corps (Motor Transport). He was posted to the ASC (MT) depot at Grove Park London. He was admitted to the Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich, on 30th April 1917 and died there on 7th May 1917. The cause of death was given as acute mania and exhaustion. He is buried in Southwell (Holy Trinity) Churchyard, Nottinghamshire.
