He was ex Public Schools Battalion, enlisted 30/12/1914.He joined Hawke Battalion, RND on 09/03/1915On 29/08/1915 he had pyrexia and was invalided to the UK on 18/09/1915He joined a draft for the BEF on 10/07/1916 and joined the Nelson Battalion on 27/11/1916On 20/04/1917 he had ICT of the left foot. He rejoined the Nelson Battalion on 05/07/1917On 04/09/1917 he went to the UK and was commissioned as temporary Sub-Lieutenant RNVR on 26/03/1918.He joined a draft back to the BEF on 10/08/1918 and joined the Hawke Battalion on 02/09/1918During the rest of September until his death, he was the Platoon Commander of C-Company
