Cameron are echoed by other correspondents, and Pte H Rush, who is engaged on the western front, sends his most heartfelt thanks. 'The eatables,' says he, 'coming as they did on the morning of Christmas Day, went a long way towards providing 'some' supper for myself and two comrades. As for the cigarettes, for pleasant after-supper luxury they were A1 ... Sometimes I feel that it would be a worth a fortune to see my old friends again, but war is war.
