Family History

He was the son of John and Mary Simpson and the brother of Mabel and Harold Simpson. In 1911 they lived at 19 St Paul's Terrace Hyson Green Nottingham. He was the husband of Florence (née Farrell) Simpson.

Military History

Private Walter Simpson, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 17th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment (Welbeck Rangers), he was killed in action on 20th October 1916. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.

Never a day dawns or night returns but what I think of thee. Death divides but fond memories cling. – Loving wife (née Farrell). “SIMPSON. – In loving memory of Pte.
