Herbert Hollingsworth

Herbert was born in 1895 in Retford and was the adopted son of George an agricultural labourer and his wife Elizabeth Cordall George and Elizabeth had a very large family of 12 children, however only eight survived till 1911. We first come across Herbert in the 1901 census he is 5 years of age and living at 13 East Road, Retford with his adopted parents and their family. In 1911 he is still living at 13 East Road with his adopted mother Elizabeth who by this time was a widow, also at the address is Herberts sister Edith Mary, he is now 15 years of age and is working as a labourer. On the CWGC record his sister is showed at the time of his death as Miss Edith Mary Hollingsworth, of 1, Kendall Row, Bowman Lane, Leeds.
