Bryant Alfred Cutler was born on 9th September 1886 , he was baptised on 9th October 1886 at St Lawrence Church, Seale, Surrey and was the son of Alfred and Annie Cutler. In the 1911 census his family are living at lived at Farnham Surrey. In the same 1911 census we find that Bryant has left the family home and is boarding at an address at Scottlethorpe near Bourne in Lincolnshire, he is boarding with Thomas Leeson 71 yrs a farm labourer and his wife Hannah 69 yrs and their daughter Charlotte Frances Leeson 22 yrs and son William 18 yrs, Bryant is shown as only Alfred Cutler, 27 yrs and a domestic gardener. Bryant married Charlotte Frances Leeson (born 24th December 1888 ) on 6th May 1911 at Denham, Bourne, Lincolnshire they lived at Normanton on the Wolds, they had two children, Maurice Basil born 24th December 1913 and Vera Kathleen born 16th April 1916. Following his death his widow Charlotte was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week which commenced on 12th May 1919.

Military History

Private Bryant Alfred Cutler enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Plumtree, he served with the 8th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He died on 23rd October 1918 of pneumonia and is buried at Tourgeville Military Cemetery Grave Reference: IV E 15
