John Moseley was born in 1896 at Southwell and was the son of Mrs. Eliza Moseley, of 6, Conway St., Nottingham. His mother Eliza Moseley was born in 1870 at Edingley In the 1901 census the family are living at the Southwell Work House, where Eliza is shown as being 31 yrs and a cook and domestic servant she is with her children Mary 11 yrs John 10 yrs (sic) and Elizabeth 7 yrs. His pension record card shows his mother Eliza was living at 74 High Road, Beeston, Nottingham.

Military History

Private John Moseley enlisted at Newark whilst residing at Beeston, he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters and was killed in action on 25th March 1918 and is buried at Beacon Cemetery, Sailly-Laurette, Somme, France.
