Robert Shelton Cook

Robert Shelton Cook was born in 1887 at Underwood and was the son of John a cattle dealer and Fanny Cook née Blagg of Underwood village. His father John was born in 1853 at Old Brinsley and his mother Fanny Blagg was born in 1854 at New Brindley, they were married in 1875, their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have 8 children, John Aldred b1877 Brinsley, Ann b1879 Brinsley, Thomas Henry b1881 Brinsley, Adelaide, b1884 Underwood, Samuel b1886, Underwood, Robert Shelton b1887 Underwood, Charles b1889 Underwood and Walter Cook b1892 Underwood. In the 1911 census the family lived at Underwood and were shown as John 58 yrs a cattle dealer he is living with his wife Fanny 57 yrs and their children, John Aldred 34 yrs a colliery banksman, Ann 32 yrs working at home, Thomas Henry 30 yrs out of work, Adelaide 27 yrs a school teacher, Samuel 25 yrs grocers assistant, Robert Shelton 24 yrs a banksman, Charles 22 yrs a joiner and Walter 19 yrs out of work. His probate was proven on 15th January 1918 at Nottingham, it shows him as Robert Shelton Cook of Underwood, Jacksdale, Private in H.M. Army died on 9th November 1917, his effects of £123, 18 shillings were left to John Cook a cattle dealer.
