Family History

John Riversdale Warren Herrick was born on 22nd May 1893 at Nottingham and was the son of Dr. Robert Warren Herrick and Edith Herrick née Whittaker of 30, Regent Street, Nottingham. His father Robert Warren Herrick was born in 1864 in Templemartin, Cork, Ireland and his mother Edith Whittaker was born in 1861 at Nottingham, they were married on 25th June 1891 at Nottingham, they had a further son Robert Lysle Warren Herrick born in 1895 at Nottingham.

Military History

2nd King Edward’s Own Gurkha Rifles (The Sirmoor Rifles), 3rd Battalion, attached 11th Gurkhas. Herrick was fatally wounded in the unpleasant war in modern day Iraq that erupted after the end of the First World War when the British took over Iraq from the Ottoman Turks, denying the Iraqis independence immediately.

Extra Information

His younger brother Robert Lysle Warren Herrick served as a Captain in the First World War attached to 29th Lancers and was awarded a DSO.
