Frank Burton

Frank was the son of Aaron and Emmeline Burton (nee Scothern). Both Frank's parents were born in Lambley, Aaron in 1855 (A/M/J Basford) and Emmeline in 1857 (A/M/J Basford). They were married in 1883 (A/M/J Basford) and had two children, both born in Lambley, Alice b. 1884 (A/M/J Basford) and Frank b. 1892. In 1891 Aaron (36), a framework knitter, and Emmeline (34), a seamstress, were living with their daughter Alice (6) on Green Lane, Lambley. Their son Frank was born the following year. However, by 1901 the family had moved to West Street, Arnold. Aaron was stil working as a framework knitter, while his daughter Alice (16) was a yarn winder. Frank married Doris Bell (b. 1891), the daughter of Isaac and Harriet Elizabeth Bell, in 1910 (O/N/D Basford). However, on the night of the Census the following year Frank was at his parents' home at 12 West Street, Arnold, while his wife was in her parent's house on Nelson Road, Daybrook, with their one month old son, Albert Eric (probably born 1911 A/M/J Basford). It is probable that Albert died the same year (J/A/S Basford) and there were no other surviving children as the notice of Frank's death in the local paper names only his wife, Doris. At the time of Frank's death in 1919 they were living on West Street, Arnold, probably with his parents, but the CWGC record gives Doris's address as 14 Nelson Road, Daybrook, Nottinghamshire, which was probably her parent's home. Frank's father, Aaron, died in 1926 (June Basford) aged 71 and his mother, Emmeline, in 1927 (March Basford) aged 69.
